Tree Commission applications available through Oct. 7

AUBURN, Ala.- The Auburn City Council is accepting applications to fill three vacancies on the Tree Commission. The terms will begin Nov. 8 and end on Nov. 7, 2027.

The Tree Commission makes recommendations to the Auburn City Council through the city manager related to tree planting programs and may recommend the types and kinds of trees to be planted on municipal streets, parks and other public places within Auburn. The commission also makes recommendations on the care and treatment of trees, provides educational programs, conducts tree giveaways and acts as tree advocates.

The commission consists of nine members who serve three-year terms. Members must be citizens of the City of Auburn. The commission meets the first Friday of each month at 11:30 a.m. at the Harris Center.

Those interested in serving are invited to apply using the link at auburnalabama.org/boards. Applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Oct. 7. The City Council will make appointments at its Oct. 15 meeting.
